Water Industry TV Short Film Competition – Terms & Conditions

By submitting a film to the Water Industry TV Short Film Competition, entrants agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Competition Organiser

The competition is organised by Water Industry TV (“the Organiser”).

2. Eligibility

The competition is open to individuals, companies, students, and organisations worldwide unless otherwise stated.

Entrants under the age of 18 must obtain permission from a parent or legal guardian before entering.

Employees, contractors, sponsors, and partners of Water Industry TV may enter unless otherwise stated but may not be eligible for certain prizes.

3. Entry Requirements

  • Films must relate to the water industry, environment, innovation, sustainability, infrastructure, engineering, or related themes.
  • Entries must be original work created by the entrant or submitted with the full permission of the copyright owner.
  • Films must not contain unlawful, defamatory, offensive, discriminatory, misleading, or inappropriate material.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to reject or remove any submission at its sole discretion.

Entrants may submit multiple films unless otherwise stated.

4. Copyright & Licensing

Copyright of all submitted films remains with the creator.

By entering the competition, entrants grant Water Industry TV a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:

  • download and store submitted content;
  • edit, subtitle, crop, or format films where necessary;
  • publish and republish films on websites, social media platforms, streaming platforms, presentations, exhibitions, and promotional materials;
  • use clips, still images, titles, descriptions, and excerpts for promotional and marketing purposes relating to the competition, Water Industry TV, and future related activities.

This licence is granted for promotional, editorial, educational, and non-commercial marketing purposes.

Entrants may request removal of their film from future use by contacting the Organiser. Water Industry TV will make reasonable efforts to remove the content from future publications and platforms under its control, but this may not apply to materials already published, distributed, archived, shared by third parties, or incorporated into existing promotional content.

5. Entrant Responsibilities & Warranties

By submitting an entry, entrants confirm that:

  • they own the rights to the submitted content or have obtained all necessary permissions;
  • any music, footage, images, trademarks, logos, or third-party materials used are properly licensed or authorised;
  • all individuals appearing in the film have provided consent to appear;
  • the submission does not infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality, or any other legal rights;
  • the content complies with applicable laws and regulations.

Entrants accept full responsibility for any claims arising from their submission.

6. AI-Generated & Third-Party Content

Use of AI-generated content, stock footage, stock music, or third-party assets is permitted only where entrants have the legal right to use such materials.

The Organiser may request evidence of licences or permissions at any time.

7. Judging & Awards

Entries may be judged on creativity, storytelling, relevance to the water industry, originality, technical quality, and audience impact.

Judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

The Organiser reserves the right:

  • not to award a prize;
  • to change prize details;
  • to create additional award categories;
  • or to cancel or amend the competition where necessary.

8. Publicity

By entering, entrants agree that Water Industry TV may use:

  • entrant names;
  • company or organisation names;
  • film titles;
  • still images;
  • quotes;
  • and excerpts from submitted films

for promotional, editorial, publicity, and marketing purposes connected with the competition and related activities.

9. Data Protection & Privacy

Personal data submitted as part of the competition will be processed in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation.

Information submitted will only be used for administration of the competition, communication with entrants, and related promotional activity unless otherwise stated.

10. Technical Issues

Water Industry TV accepts no responsibility for:

  • lost, delayed, corrupted, incomplete, or failed submissions;
  • technical malfunctions;
  • website interruptions;
  • upload errors;
  • or compatibility issues affecting entry submissions.

11. Liability

While reasonable efforts are made to ensure the accuracy and reliability of published information, Water Industry TV accepts no liability for:

  • inaccuracies or omissions;
  • technical issues;
  • external linked content;
  • or any loss or damage arising from participation in the competition or use of this website.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes liability where such exclusion is prohibited by law.

12. Website Disclaimer

This website may contain information, opinions, videos, articles, research, and external links related to the water industry and associated activities.

Materials published on this site are provided for general informational purposes only and may not always be comprehensive, complete, accurate, or up to date.

13. Right to Amend

The Organiser reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions or withdraw the competition at any time where reasonably necessary.

14. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
